All students from the Channel Islands and Isle of Man will be charged the full cost fee (overseas rate).

3. Fee Rates for Part-Time Students

Special fee rates apply to candidates registered as part-time students of the College or under the University's Public Research

Institute (PRI) or Industrial Research Laboratory (IRL) schemes. Part-time fees are normally half the full-time fee.

4. Classification of Student for Fee Purposes

Students may be classified as "home" or "overseas" for fee purposes and hence may incur a different liability for fees.

Classification is established by the College in accordance with UK Government Regulations, currently the "Education (Fees &

Awards) Regulations 1997" and subsequent amendments. The College's guidelines, based on these regulations, are published in

the College Prospectus. Copies are also sent to all candidates classified as "overseas" by the College to whom an offer of

admission is made. Any appeal against classification as an "overseas" student must be made in the first instance to the Senior

Assistant Registrar (Admissions).

5. Payment of College Fees

Home and EU undergraduate students admitted after September 1998 may have to pay towards their fees. Such students with a

personal liability in excess of ,350.00 may pay fees in two instalments with no additional charge. The first instalment must be

paid by the end of November and the second by mid March.

Many students will receive their tuition fee invoice prior to the commencement of session; they should settle their account by the

first day of session. Students who receive their invoice shortly after commencement of session are required to pay their accounts

within 28 days. Fees are payable in full; except that authority may be granted to self-supported students for sessional fees in

excess of ,2000 to be paid on an instalment basis subject to a facility charge where appropriate. Self-supported students who

have not paid their fee invoices in full (or opted for instalments) within twenty-eight days of the start of session (or within twenty

eight days of the issue of the invoice at times other than at the start of session) will be required to pay a facility charge. Similarly,

self-supported students who have opted for instalments, but who fail to pay the second or third instalment by the due date, will

be required to pay a facility charge. Cheques should be made payable to "Imperial College" and should be sent to the Cashier.

Remittances from overseas (including Eire) should be in the form of a sterling banker's draft drawn on a London bank. Any

student whose sessional fee has not been paid in full will not be allowed to proceed to the next year of the course and will be

required to withdraw from the College.

NB: Fee rates, facility charge levels and eligibility for instalment payment arrangements are all subject to periodic review.
